A downloaded video may be silent because the original post is silent, the platform exposes no compatible audio stream, or the available audio is restricted separately from the video. SaveVideoKit combines compatible audio when it is available but cannot create audio that the source does not provide.

Checks to perform
- Play the original post with sound enabled and confirm it actually contains audio.
- Try the saved file in a current browser or media player to rule out an unsupported local codec.
- Check whether the platform labels the source as a GIF, muted clip, or silent post.
- If repeated public URLs from the same platform fail, treat it as a capability regression and retest the extractor.
Reddit-specific note
Reddit frequently exposes video and audio separately. When compatible streams are available, the service merges them. Some posts are genuinely silent or do not expose an audio stream that can be combined.
